I am Interested in depriving the sensation of touch. Taking pornographic images rearranging the scenes in order to keep the figures from touching one another. Blurring or censoring out nudity in a way that the action is apparent but not complete.
Paintings operate in a similar manner as pornography in the way that despite their main functional dependancy on the visual they aim to entice the senses.
Mixing the high cultural standing of art with the low of pornography allows for a system that lets me look for a middle ground to help mute the perverse sexuality and fetishes, recycling them in to something that may be more socially acceptable. Though ultimately, despite being transformed into art there is always a level of discomfort almost embarrassment associated with the imagery. In painting these images it becomes a dual of sorts as to what will become the dominant feel of a piece. Basing the direction a painting follows on my comfort level with the material, censoring what I feel needs to be left out based on intuition and life experience, (growing up in a Catholic/Baptist religious household) with my interest in making the perverseness acceptable and trying to stay true to the rawness of the sexuality.
Depriving the viewer of the sensation of touch as an attempt to curve the perversness of the image.
